Whoa, baby! It’s been awhile! To be honest, I got swamped this spring and haven’t had much time to update my webpage. Spring always seems to be ushered in with births and even the cows on our farm have blessed us with new little ones.
I saw this new momma licking her calf–just minutes old–right outside the window of my office. (Maybe I should admit clarify that my “office” is sometimes located in a room behind our barn. I love it there!)
After observing the new momma and her calf, another old gal couldn’t resist the urge to help a little. She joined in to help clean up the baby, and those two cows licked that little calf up one side and down the other! They even licked his feet. I watched them for several minutes and thought how nice it was for the new mom to receive a little loving help from a friend.
It’s nice for human mommas to receive a little help from a friend, too! That’s when a postpartum doula can come in awfully handy. (Meaning “awfully” in the nicest sense of the word, you know.)
So what is a postpartum doula? What does a postpartum doula do? Click on over to my doula section, friends, and I’ll explain it to you! And, oh yeah, happy birthing!
